ACT Entertainment illuminated the 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star Weekend with their lighting solutions.
In the heart of Indianapolis, the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game was illuminated by Dodd Technologies, the production partner for the event. The all-LED stage, designed to seamlessly blend with the court, was the centrepiece of the spectacle.
Dodd Technologies, who have been using the grandMA platform for about 15 years, programmed the halftime show and provided lighting control gear for the event. Two full-size grandMA3 consoles were used, with one positioned at FOH as a backup unit. Two XL processors, four 8-port nodes, and a replay unit were also supplied for the halftime show's lighting control.
The grandMA platform, renowned for its reliability, versatility, and ease of setup, played a crucial role in creating the visual spectacle.
For key lighting and effects, fifty Ayrton Khamsins were mounted in trusses over the main stage. These versatile fixtures, known for their long-throw capabilities and successful output for TV lighting and effects, added a dynamic touch to the performances.
Seventy-four laser-source Cobra2s were deployed for the halftime show and other performances. These fixtures were used for beam effects, scanning effects, and unique projections on the court, creating a visually stunning atmosphere.
The WNBA Skills Challenge, held on Friday, July 18 and broadcast on ESPN, also benefited from the Cobra2s' capabilities.
For added drama, sixteen Zonda 9 FX were used as back light for the main stage, and four more were set into the teams' entry hallways to highlight players' exits from the tunnels.
The MDG ATMe haze generators, placed in each of the four corners of the catwalk, provided a very even haze into the building without the source being visible. This subtle touch added depth and dimension to the lighting setup.
About half of the Ayrton lighting used for the event was previously part of the Fieldhouse's permanent inventory, having been sold by Dodd Technologies. This strategic move ensured a seamless integration of equipment into the venue.
The seller of Ayrton, MA Lighting, and MDG brands in Canada for the All-Star Weekend 2025 was Creative Technology. The support from ACT and MA Lighting was a significant factor in Dodd Technologies' choice of equipment.
The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game was aired live on ABC, Disney+, and ESPN+, reaching a wide audience and showcasing the impressive lighting setup provided by Dodd Technologies. The halftime stage, designed to be an organic part of the court by Dodd Technologies, was a testament to their expertise in creating visually stunning, yet seamless, lighting designs.
