The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has awarded a contract worth $129.7 million to Leidos to support its Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division's Fingerprint Analysis Support Team (FAST) Biometric Services program. This contract, lasting five and a half years, forms part of the FBI's ongoing efforts to modernize and improve its biometric identification capabilities.

Under the scope of the contract, Leidos will provide support to the CJIS program, which manages the Next Generation Identification (NGI) system, the largest and most efficient electronic repository of biometric and criminal history information. The collaboration between Leidos and CJIS began in 2018, involving the incorporation of agile methodology and development operations to enhance software development and testing processes.

Through this contract, Leidos will help the FBI advance its biometric services, a crucial element for effective law enforcement operations. The modernized biometric services will streamline information sharing across state, local, federal, and tribal authorities, ultimately improving the efficiency and effectiveness of criminal justice operations.

The award of this contract solidifies Leidos' position as a key partner in advancing federal law enforcement technology infrastructure. The FBI's commitment to leveraging advanced biometric technologies demonstrates an ongoing effort to enhance law enforcement capabilities and maintain a robust information security posture.

Leidos will use their expertise in technology to aid the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division's FAST Biometric Services program, thereby supporting the FBI's education-and-self-development efforts in modernizing its biometric identification capabilities. This contract is expected to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of criminal justice operations, demonstrating the FBI's use of technology in law enforcement.
