Alexandria Protests for Palestine: 500 March, Police Block Station Entry

Alexandria witnessed its third protest in ten days today, October 2, in solidarity with the Palestinian people and the Global Sumud Flotilla. Around 500 people gathered in Piazza della Lega, marching towards the station while chanting 'Free Palestine'.

The protest, which included music, readings, and a moment of reflective silence, was the third such event in the city in just ten days. The march attempted to enter the station but was blocked by anti-riot police. Meanwhile, in Valenza, the Paolo and Rita Borsellino comprehensive institute will hold an event on October 3 to educate students about the war in Palestine. The event will include an hour of musical readings and a moment of silence to remember the children affected by conflicts worldwide. Teaching and non-teaching staff in Alexandria will also be able to wear a black ribbon to honour these victims.

Today's protest in Alexandria, like the previous two, highlights the growing concern and support for the Palestinian people among the local community. The event in Valenza on October 3 further underscores the importance of educating the next generation about the ongoing situation in Palestine.
