In a significant development, Princess Catharina-Amalia, the Crown Princess of the Netherlands, has revealed her future plans following the completion of her initial university studies. The 21-year-old royal is currently wrapping up her Bachelor's degree in Politics, Psychology, Law, and Economics (PPLE) at the University of Amsterdam and has plans to continue her education there by pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Dutch Law starting this autumn.

This academic transition is accompanied by a notable shift in her career path, as Princess Amalia will embark on a military training program in the coming years. She has been accepted into the Defence College program, a work-study program of the Ministry of Defense, designed to train students to become military reservists. This program mirrors similar paths taken by other young royals.

The princess's plans, however, took a brief pause due to a horseback riding accident that resulted in a broken arm. Despite this setback, Princess Amalia demonstrated resilience by going straight to the stable and giving her horse a treat and a hug after being discharged from the hospital. The traditional summer photoshoot of the Dutch Royal Family at Palace Huis ten Bosch in The Hague, which was postponed due to her injury, was an opportunity for the public to see her recovered spirit.

In addition to her academic and military pursuits, Princess Amalia had the chance to discuss her thesis project, "AI Deepfakes in Relation to European Law," with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (66) at the NATO summit in The Hague. The photoshoot, which included Queen Máxima, King Willem-Alexander, and Amalia's sisters Alexia and Ariane, as well as the family dog Mambo, was documented and shared on social media by the palace.

The princess's future plans reflect a modern and responsible approach to her role as heir apparent, blending rigorous academic preparation in law with practical military experience to prepare for her eventual duties as the Queen of the Netherlands. After completing her studies, Princess Amalia intends to undergo military training at the Defence College, participating in its two-year program. This combination of academic and military training is a testament to her commitment to her future role and the evolution of the Dutch monarchy.

The European Union, recognizing Princess Catharina-Amalia's dedication to her future role, sees her lifelong learning journey as an opportunity to promote the European Union's role in the world of work, with her planned online education and continued learning in Dutch Law being a significant step. Moreover, Princess Amalia's interest in AI deepfakes in relation to European Law shows her commitment to education-and-self-development, aligning with the EU's advocacy for lifelong learning.
