University Grants Commission Scholarships for Nepal's Students
The University Grants Commission (UGC) in Nepal has announced scholarships for the academic year 2081/082 for students belonging to disadvantaged groups. These include students with disabilities, economically disadvantaged or Dalit students, children of martyrs and conflict victims, Mukta Kamlari, and Muslim women students.
To apply, students can download the scholarship application forms from the Commission's website at www.ugcnepal.edu.np. The deadline for submitting applications is Chaitra 13, 2081 (March 26, 2025).
For students who need to renew their scholarships, please note that applications will not be valid. New applicants, except children of martyrs, conflict victims, and students with disabilities, must not exceed 25 years of age for Bachelor's level and 30 years for Master's level at the time of application.
Required documents for the application include a copy of the Nepali citizenship certificate, proof of enrollment, a recommendation letter, a copy of the latest educational transcript, a copy of the student's bank checkbook from Rastriya Banijya Bank, Nepal Bank Limited, or Agricultural Development Bank, and specific certificates and recommendation letters for each category.
For children of martyrs or conflict victims, a recommendation letter from the local government, district administration office, or authority designated by the Nepal Government is required to certify their status. For Muslim women, proof of Muslim identity is necessary. Students who have previously received scholarships must fill out Annex-5 and submit it along with a progress report (grade sheet) to receive remaining installments.
For persons with disabilities, a disability certificate with the category specified is required. For Dalits, proof of Dalit caste/ethnicity is necessary. For freed Kamlari, proof of freed Kamlari status is required. It is important to note that no student will be awarded duplicate scholarships for studying at the same level. Applications received after the deadline or without the required documents will not be processed.
