Apply for the Youth Land Day 2024: Call for Participants!
The Youth Parliament 2024 is set to take place in Düsseldorf, offering an exciting opportunity for young people aged 16 to 20 from Oberhausen to participate and shape the future of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).
This simulated parliamentary event, organised by members of the Landtag, including Sonja Bongers, Frederick Cordes, and Stefan Zimkeit, aims to provide a hands-on experience of the daily workings of parliament. A total of 195 young people will act as parliamentarians, forming committees, attending faction meetings, and participating in plenary sessions.
Topics up for debate are expected to mirror those of current political importance, such as promoting political education, making vocational training more attractive, and addressing the skilled labor shortage in NRW. Past Youth Parliaments have also discussed youth-relevant political and social issues like climate change, education, digitalization, youth participation, and social justice.
The event, running from November 7 to 9, 2024, will cover all costs, including accommodation, for the participating youth parliamentarians. Applications are now open and should be sent to Sonja Bongers at [email protected] by Monday, 05 August 2024. Applications should include personal details such as a phone number, address, date of birth, gender identity, current educational or employment status, and a brief statement on why the applicant wants to participate in the Youth Parliament.
Frederick Cordes emphasises the importance of committed and eager young people in making this event a success. Sonja Bongers believes that this event offers a great opportunity to experience democracy firsthand.
