Aschaffenburg's BNE Model Municipality Project Concludes with Lasting Impact
Aschaffenburg's commitment to education for sustainable development (BNE) has been recognised with a certificate from the 'BNE Competence Centre - Education, Sustainability, Municipality' (BiNaKom). The city's participation in the 'BNE Model Municipality' project from 2021 to 2025 has concluded successfully, leaving a lasting impact on the city's sustainability efforts.
During the project period, Aschaffenburg implemented numerous initiatives to promote BNE, working closely with local actors. The city's Volkshochschule and Verein Migranten für Migranten e.V. were honoured with the 'National Award - Education for Sustainable Development'. The Open Days Barcamp in June 2024 stood out as a key event, bringing together stakeholders from education, politics, and civil society. Mayor Jürgen Herzing praised the cooperation, highlighting its valuable contribution to connecting sustainability and education in the city.
The city's commitment to BNE will continue even after the project period, as it strives to further anchor these principles in its development.
