Sun, Sea, and Skills: Krasnodar Krai's PROadvancement Cadet School wraps up in Anapa
Get ready for an immersive educational extravaganza! The Krasnodar Krai's PROadvancement Cadet School gathered its future stars of hospitality at Anapa's sanatorium for a jam-packed four-day final seminar. Over 1,500 eager students, on the verge of becoming camp counselors and hospitality experts, soaked up the sun and swept up knowledge.
The shimmering coast of Anapa became a bustling hub of learning and development for a few unforgettable days. They gathered to conquer their next challenge - graduating into a new profession.
"I can feel the excitement in the air," said participant Tatiana Bocharova, "-- curiosity is running high among the future counselors. We've spent the last two months learning the ropes in our cities, with a series of trials and games. And now we're diving headfirst into the final stretch here in Anapa for a grandiose finish."
What sets this seminar apart is its hands-on, experiential learning approach. Right after every enlightening lecture, the participants jumped straight into the thick of things - organizing camp performances, developing intratroup structures, and dealing with potential conflicts.
"I came with high hopes, and let me tell you, they were more than met! I've never immersed myself in camp life before, and now I can honestly say I've experienced it for the first time. The events and competitions were unlike anything I've ever seen and left me feeling exhilarated," said Denis Turusov, another enthusiastic participant.
Many of the mentors leading the way are veterans who once walked the same path themselves, which is just one more unique aspect of this school. This year, a fresh direction, "Lifeguards," was introduced, bringing the total student count to over 3,500. Future specialists, even from new territories, joined the cadet school.
Governor of Krasnodar Krai, Veniamin Kondratyev, addressed the students, expressing his expectation for them to raise the bar of hospitality. "It's the counselors, lifeguards, and everyone else responsible for this industry who make all the difference. Our ultimate goal is to provide top-notch hospitality, and that begins with you. Every visitor who comes to us desires to return, and it's up to you to ensure that desire is fulfilled," he said.
Following Kondratyev's words, he praised the masterclasses put on by the "Service and Hospitality" department. Apart from learning a variety of essential skills, students gain hands-on experience in preparing popular dishes. The regional head, however, suggested that more emphasis should be placed on traditional Kuban cuisine, like learning how to make vareniki.
No camp counseling education would be complete without first aid training. The program includes mandatory sessions where students learn to administer CPR, stop bleeding, and respond in case of unconsciousness. The training sessions, utilizing mannequins, have caught the governor's attention.
"Safety should always be our top priority," he stressed. "If there's an emergency, a counselor shouldn't hesitate. They should administer first aid and call for a doctor right away. You're learning this very skill here today - and it's crucial for your development as a camp counselor."
This comprehensive curriculum is the culmination of a year's worth of diligent work. Students study theory in their regions with the help of local experts, while this off-site seminar offers a broader range of opportunities to apply their learning.
"We've given our educational program a major overhaul, expanding its content with valuable insights from the Society 'Knowledge' and the 'Firsts' movement. This year, we've managed to bring in numerous federal-level speakers who are joining us via video call," said Artem Gavrilov, chairman of the Association of Children's Camps and Sanatoriums of the Krasnodar Territory.
With over 100,000 people employed in the health resort industry, the Kuban region welcomed a record 20 million tourists last year. As more four- and five-star hotels crop up along the coast, the demand for qualified staff continues to grow. It's heartening to see the region grow its own pool of skilled professionals.
"You are the ambassadors of children's recreation in the Krasnodar Territory. The quality of your service will make or break their vacation experiences. Children are the future, and it's our responsibility to create an environment where they can have a fantastic summer, with your help as their counselors. Your energy and enthusiasm will set the tone, create a positive atmosphere, and shape their unforgettable memories," the governor concluded.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive certificates of additional education and completion, thus boosting their employability in hotels, sanatoriums, and health resorts of all levels.
