Athletes Engage in Basketball at OSC: 340 Participants Involved
In the vibrant city of Osnabrück, the Osnabrück Sports Club (OSC) is set to make a significant impact on local youth with the introduction of its Panthers Kids League. This youth sports program, a new addition to the club, will see two teams from the city participate in the tournament for the first time this year, marking an exciting milestone for the OSC and the community.
The OSC, known as the largest recreational sports club in the city of peace, has a long-standing partnership with the nearby elementary school and Gymnasium in the Wüste. This collaboration is evident in the "Panthers@school" project, which introduces the sport and the club's offerings to school physical education, providing children and young people with access to organized sports.
The Panthers@school project will continue in September, and interested schools are encouraged to contact [email protected]. Eight new mini-coaches and three new FSJlers (Patrick Lux, Lilly Rüße, and Luca Seidel) will also assist the teams this year, ensuring a nurturing and supportive environment for the young athletes.
The OSC values creating an offer for everyone, including recreational, broad-based, performance, and top-level sports. The Panthers Kids League is no exception, as it aims to develop athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship among children and teenagers in the Osnabrück region.
In addition to the Panthers Kids League, the OSC boasts a professional women's basketball team known as the Panthers. Fiona Stahl heads the basketball office at the OSC, overseeing the 27 teams that participate in the league within the club.
As part of the Panthers@school project, all students who participate will receive a free ticket for a Bundesliga women's game in the next season, further encouraging community involvement and support. Interested referees can also contact Fiona Stahl directly at [email protected].
Six participants completed their referee license through the LSE basic training held at OSC in April, demonstrating the club's commitment to providing opportunities for growth and development in various aspects of sports.
The Panthers Kids League is in its fourth year and will include girls and boys from elementary schools in Osnabrück and the district in the school year 2024/25. Mentoring offers and internal further training in the context of mini-tournaments will continue in the coming season, ensuring a continued focus on the development of young athletes.
