"Avoid transforming your mobile device into a dangerous tool" - Courthouse safety awareness week
The Nuremberg Justice Palace is currently running a prevention week for school classes, with a focus on educating students about potential smartphone-related crimes. This action-packed week includes a variety of activities, one of which is a mock trial.
The mock trial, designed to provide practical experience in handling legal cases, is an unique way for students to engage with and understand the legal system. During the trial, students assume the roles of justice, processing a case from complaint to verdict.
The mock trial may involve cases related to fraud, insults/threats, or child pornography distribution. Prosecutor Sebastian Pelkhofer mentioned fraud offenses as a typical case, such as a scam via eBay classifieds.
Unfortunately, the distribution of child pornographic content is also on the agenda during the prevention week.
The prevention week aims to educate students about the potential legal consequences of their smartphone use. It highlights that unconscious smartphone use can lead to committing a crime, and covers various types of potential smartphone-related crimes, including sharing copyrighted content without permission, cyberbullying or harassment via messaging apps or social media, violating privacy laws, participating in or forwarding chain messages or scams unknowingly, downloading or using pirated software or apps, and engaging in activities that might unintentionally breach data protection or digital security rules.
By raising awareness about these issues, the prevention week hopes to promote responsible smartphone use among youth and prevent inadvertent lawbreaking. The event is an important step in equipping the next generation with the knowledge they need to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
- The prevention week at the Nuremberg Justice Palace not only focuses on educating students about smartphone-related crimes, but also aims to promote general news and self-development by helping young people understand the legal consequences of their smartphone use and encouraging responsible behavior.
- In addition to fraud offenses and child pornography distribution, the prevention week covers a variety of general news topics related to smartphone use, such as the sharing of copyrighted content without permission, cyberbullying, violating privacy laws, participating in scams, downloading pirated software, and breaching data protection or digital security rules.
