Baden-Württemberg's Job Market Mixed: Stable Unemployment, Fewer Vacancies
Baden-Württemberg's Minister of Economic Affairs, Labor, and Tourism, Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, has emphasized the significance of vocational training in achieving a stable and self-determined professional life. Meanwhile, the latest data from the Federal Employment Agency paints a varied picture of the region's job market.
In September 2025, the unemployment rate in Baden-Württemberg held steady at 4.7 percent, with a total of 303,099 individuals jobless. This figure represents a slight decrease from August but a 15.5 percent increase compared to the previous year. The number of unemployed youth under 25 years old stood at 30,346, with a youth unemployment rate of 4.4 percent.
The number of advertised vacancies at the Federal Employment Agency decreased slightly to 75,416, a drop of 8,891 compared to the same period last year. Dr. Hoffmeister-Kraut acknowledged this trend but reiterated that vocational training remains a vital foundation for a stable and self-determined professional life.
While the unemployment rate in Baden-Württemberg has remained stable, the number of job vacancies has decreased. Youth unemployment, while still a concern, has seen a decrease of 493 individuals compared to August 2025. Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut has called for social system reforms to secure employment, reduce costs, and increase economic performance, but no specific proposals have been outlined yet.
