BETT 2025 Highlights: Artificial Intelligence Spotted Dazzling on the BETT UK Exhibition Floor

At BETT 2025, the world's largest education innovation event, the spotlight was on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its transformative potential in teaching and learning. The conference, now merged with the GSV Summit, aimed to accelerate AI and edtech innovations globally.

The showcased edtech solutions highlighted the personalization of education, catering to diverse learner needs. AI tools were presented that assist teachers by automating time-consuming tasks like marking and providing personalized feedback. These tools also adapted resources for students, offering translations and podcast formats, among others.

The event featured discussions with thought leaders such as Stephen Fry and Anne-Marie Imafidon, who addressed the possibilities and challenges AI brings to education and workforce skills, focusing on ethical considerations and AI’s role in redefining future skills.

Attendees discovered a range of innovative AI solutions from global tech companies, startups, and renowned education brands, tailored for different education settings and budgets. Some of the notable exhibitors included Zoe, EdTool.ai, CodeMonkey, Writer's Toolbox, Microsoft, Keath.ai, Olex.ai, RoboRobo, Infento, and MagicSchool.

Zoe, for instance, allows teachers to build their own interactive Virtual Reality (VR) experiences, with the option to delve into Unity coding for more complexity. EdTool.ai, on the other hand, enables teachers to create presentation and assessments quickly, with the ability to select a target age and ability group, and pick the activity type.

CodeMonkey showcased a fun coding system for kids, teaching real-world coding such as Python and CoffeeScript. Writer's Toolbox, popular in Australia and New Zealand, demonstrated how AI can transform writing instruction in schools. Microsoft presented Spark software, which uses AI to help teachers create assessment learning materials, and CoPilot AI, allowing teachers to use AI directly on devices without an internet connection.

Keath.ai showcased its AI-powered assessment tool, the "Personalized AI Assessment Assistant," capable of marking 1,000- to 15,000-word essays with a baseline accuracy of 85%, expected to reach 95% with ongoing use. Olex.ai, an artificially intelligent platform for teaching English, was awarded for its ability to mark essays with detailed feedback in under two minutes.

RoboRobo is a coding platform that uses robotics for STEAM education, offering varying levels to cater to different coding skill levels. Infento presented a modular toy-building system, allowing for highly varied creations and real-world interaction. Education-specific kits are available for both RoboRobo and Infento.

MagicSchool showcased its AI-powered platform, combining dynamic AI tools for education, including academic content creation, proofreading, and report card commenting.

The event, currently taking place at London's ExCel Centre, is a testament to the growing importance of AI in education, with its potential to revolutionize teaching and learning methods, and its challenges in areas such as ethics, inclusion, and data security.
