CNRS Launches Global Alumni Network for International Exchange

The CNRS, a leading French research organisation, has launched an ambitious 'CNRS alumni' network. With nearly 800 members, it aims to connect former staff worldwide, fostering international academic exchange and asserting global influence.

The network, initiated by the CNRS Chairman and CEO in early 2025, is actively expanding internationally. It organised the first 'Fête des Alumni' event in September 2025, bringing together almost 60 participants. This event laid the groundwork for new initiatives, including structuring regional and international activities and fostering mentoring.

The network's strategic committee advises on policy directions, ensuring alignment with alumni needs and CNRS priorities. It also plans pilot projects in dynamic areas outside the Île-de-France region. Despite a significant initial commitment, interactions and events remain limited, indicating a need to stimulate further engagement.

The 'CNRS alumni' network is set to bolster international connections and offer English content by the end of the year. With a strategic focus on maintaining ties, building a skill pool, and asserting scientific, societal, and international influence, the network aims to bring together everyone who has ever worked at the CNRS, promoting lasting links with the organisation.
