Collaborative scholarship program for WICM GmbH initiated with IHK Wiesbaden
In the vibrant city of Wiesbaden, the WiesPaten sponsorship program continues to make a significant impact on the lives of students, marking its 15th anniversary this April. This social initiative, which has been active for over a decade, aims to enhance education, participation, and future prospects for young people by providing concrete support and interaction between pupils and sponsoring companies.
The program, which began in the 2005/2006 school year, has grown to include prominent companies such as WICM GmbH and the Wiesbaden Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK Wiesbaden). These participating companies see benefits not only for the students but also for themselves, as they gain insights into youth motivations and perspectives.
The WiesPaten project is designed to match students with companies, offering mentorship and support. Regular meetings are held between students, student teachers, and employees of the sponsoring institutions. These gatherings focus on knowledge transfer, academic support, and social activities, with the aim of reaching young people where they stand on their individual paths.
The IHK Wiesbaden has supported WiesPaten for several years and has now taken on its first sponsorship. Sabine Meder, CEO of the IHK Wiesbaden, emphasises that supporting young people is part of the IHK's DNA and that WiesPaten engagement is an important building block for creating equal opportunities.
WICM GmbH has formed a permanent partnership with Wilhelm-Leuschner-Schule in Kostheim for WiesPaten sponsorship. Simon Rottloff, WICM's proxy and responsible for sustainability, states that the WiesPaten project benefits everyone involved, including the sponsored students and WICM. The project provides a change of perspective for sponsoring companies, allowing them to learn firsthand what moves young people today.
The WiesPaten project has proven to be a win-win for everyone involved, benefiting the students, engaged students, and sponsoring companies. Last school year, participating students visited the RheinMain CongressCenter, attended "Wiesbaden on Ice" at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, received support for their final presentations, and participated in the WiesPaten summer festival.
The Mayor and Economic Development Officer, Christiane Hinninger, has expressed support for the partnership, stating that it provides concrete support to young people. Shared experiences are a central focus of WiesPaten, fostering relationships based on trust and appreciation. The WiesPaten sponsorship program continues to make a positive impact on the lives of students in Wiesbaden, emphasising corporate social responsibility and the promotion of young talent.
