Confidence is the marketable asset in Art Düsseldorf: the art world's perspective
Art Düsseldorf 2023: A Showcase of Contemporary Art
Art enthusiasts, mark your calendars! The Art Düsseldorf is set to return from April 14, opening its doors at Areal Böhler, Hansaallee 321. This year's event promises a dynamic range of contemporary art across various mediums, including painting, photography, and sculpture, with an emphasis on innovative and diverse artistic practices.
As you step into the fair, a five-meter-high, red wine-stained curtain by Edith Dekyndt is impossible to miss at the Konrad Fischer gallery. The young people in the paintings by Muntean/Rosenblum, delicate but irresistible, are a sight to behold. A girl has become a sculpture, holding a sign that reads "There is silence to fill".
Julia Meyer-Brehm has designed 18 sculpture platforms for the fair, with a focus on featuring more, younger, and female artists. A section curated by Linda Peitz called "Tales of Transformation" focuses on climate change and sustainability, with British painter Lydia Blakeley's pink holiday home in a strangely artificial cactus garden presenting a message about sustainability at the Tube Gallery from Mallorca.
The fair features 108 galleries in two halls. While a complete list for 2023 is not found in the available sources, galleries like Galerie Bene Taschen participate in Cologne/Düsseldorf art events and similar contemporary galleries likely participate at Art Düsseldorf.
Tickets can only be purchased online, and floor plans are available at the entrance. Parking spaces are available on the grounds. Don't forget to check out the "You and Me Shop", a curiosity shop filled with oddities, which was used by Fluxus artist Takako Saito in 1994 for performances.
Nora Lube has installed a humorous "Rebellion of the Rocking Horses", and the large flat-footed "Horse" by João Maria Gusmão and Pedro Paiva has nothing to do with an equestrian statue of the grand kind. The entrance fee is 29 Euro, reduced to 23 Euro for students, seniors, etc.
The U76 Lörick stop is the nearest public transportation. The event runs from Friday 12 to 19h, Saturday 11 to 19h, and Sunday 11 to 18h. Don't miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant world of contemporary art!
