Course on Executive Functioning and Neurodiverse Abilities
New Course Launched: Executive Functioning and Neurodivergence
A new course titled "Executive Functioning and Neurodivergence" has been launched, designed to help neurodivergent teens (including those who are autistic, dyslexic, or have ADHD) better understand and navigate their unique brain wiring, particularly in relation to executive functioning challenges.
The six-week course is structured around various themes related to neurodivergence and executive functioning. Each week, participants will delve into a new module, starting with an introduction to what executive functioning is and how neurodivergence affects it (Module 1).
Module 1: Understanding Executive Functioning and Neurodivergence
This module sets the foundation for the course, explaining executive functioning and its impact on neurodivergent individuals.
Module 2: Developing a Growth Mindset
In this module, participants will learn about the importance of adopting a growth mindset in improving their skills and overcoming challenges.
Module 3: Time Management and Planning
Session 3 focuses on time management and planning, providing strategies to help participants better manage their time and organise their tasks.
Module 4: Attention and Focus
Session 4 addresses attention and focus, offering practical tips to help participants improve their ability to concentrate and stay focused.
Module 5: Navigating Friendships, Communicating My Needs, and Managing Executive Functioning with Digital Resources
The final two sessions (Sessions 5 and 6) cover navigating friendships, understanding the strengths that neurodivergent traits provide, and communicating needs effectively. Session 5 also explores the challenges neurodivergent young people face with planning, organization, starting and switching tasks, emotional regulation, and time tracking, and offers personalized strategies for addressing these issues. Session 6 teaches communication tools for self-advocacy based on the self-understanding developed in earlier sessions. Additionally, Module 5 introduces digital resources for managing executive functioning.
Each module comes with a 46-page downloadable printable workbook. The course is designed as an introduction and does not delve deep into all website skills.
While the course completion encourages participants to consider joining a membership for further executive functioning help, it's important to note that the membership is not included in the course enrollment. The membership resources are not available for download at the moment, but participants are advised to keep an eye on the blog for the launch of the membership. No payment is required for the membership at this time.
The creator of the course emphasizes the importance of a supportive, neurodivergence-affirming framework and welcomes feedback and thoughts on the membership. The membership is intended to provide additional resources for managing executive functioning, including live coaching and practical strategies emphasized in related webinars and podcasts.
