Harvard's Court Victory Temporarily Halts Trump's Travel Ban for Foreign Students
Court inhibits Trump from interfering with Harvard's admission policies
In an unexpected twist, a federal court in the U.S. has temporarily halted President Donald Trump's announced travel ban targeting foreign students aiming to attend Harvard University. The existing rules will stay in place until a court hearing, Judge Allison D. Burroughs decided.
Harvard, nestled in the heart of Cambridge, Massachusetts, showed compelling evidence that the ban would immediately cause severe harm if enacted. Burroughs reasoned that the ban, effective since its announcement, would be delayed until further order by the court.
International Report: Trump's Crackdown - Will More Universities be Targeted?
The future remains uncertain for Harvard in its clash with the U.S. government despite this temporary triumph. Harvard recently escalated its legal battle by filing an appeal against Trump's declaration, further expanding its existing lawsuit.
The government alleged that universities, including Harvard, hold a predominantly liberal slant and that insufficient countermeasures have been implemented against anti-Semitism. Unlike other institutions, Harvard resists aggressive political directives from Washington and takes them to court instead.

Trump publicly announced his travel restriction would initially last for six months. The administration justifies this decision by viewing Harvard as an unsuitable destination for international students and researchers, a stance it has maintained for months.
Harvard: Retaliation Campaign at Full Throttle
Harvard flatly denied Trump's assertion that the entry of foreign students into the university is detrimental to U.S. interests. The Trump administration's announcement would not bar these individuals from entering the country, as long as they have no intention of studying at Harvard. According to the amended complaint, the objective of the announcement is merely to push through Trump's agenda, which is already being legally challenged.
In addition to its lawsuit filed in May, Harvard accused the Trump administration of conducting a coordinated and escalating retaliation campaign. Harvard rebukes the government for trying to control its leadership, curtail its educational plans, and influence the ideology of its faculty and students. "This is not the first attempt by the government to isolate Harvard from its international students," the university claimed further.
Harvard has been locked in a battle with the U.S. government over its plan to exclude foreign students at the university since last month. Burroughs initially blocked this plan in May, and has now extended this order, temporarily preventing the government from barring Harvard from accepting new international students under a special federal program.
