Deadline Approaching for NLSIU-Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas 2nd FinTech Moot Court Competition Registrations

The Moot Court Society (MCS) at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), in partnership with Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM), is hosting the 2nd NLS-SAM FinTech Moot Court Competition, 2025. This exciting event is scheduled to take place in November 2025.

This year's competition promises to be an engaging exploration of fintech law, with the problem based at the intersection of finance and technology. The inaugural edition of the competition featured novel issues such as blockchain-enabled fractional real estate ownership, setting a precedent for innovative legal discussions.

The competition is open to all students enrolled bona fide on a regular basis in an undergraduate or postgraduate law course conducted by any recognized institution. However, only students in their 2nd year or above of the BA LLB (or any integrated 5-year law program) and the 3-year LLB program, as well as students enrolled in postgraduate law programs (including LLM), are eligible to participate.

Each recognized institution shall be entitled to send only one team to the competition. The deadline for final registration is September 21, 2025. A non-refundable upfront registration fee of INR 2,500 is charged for the competition.

The oral rounds (preliminary and advanced rounds) will be held on November 15,16. The top 24 teams that qualify for the oral rounds after the memorial qualifier will be required to pay an additional participation fee of INR 7,500. This additional fee includes accommodation, food, and travel to and from the venue to the accommodation provided.

The deadline to submit memorials is October 10. The Moot Proposition will be released to registered teams on September 15. Teams are encouraged to submit any clarifications by September 24.

This year's moot proposition promises to present pressing legal questions in fintech, covering topics like digital public infrastructure and virtual reality. The competition serves as a platform for law students to explore financial technology while improving their advocacy, research, and problem-solving skills.
