Discovery Education & Norton Team Up to Boost Digital Citizenship Education
Discovery Education, a leading global provider of PreK-12 learning solutions, has welcomed Norton to its Digital Citizenship Initiative. This collaboration aims to equip educators and students worldwide with essential digital literacy skills to discover the responsible use of technology.
Discovery Education serves around 4.5 million educators and 45 million students globally. Grace Maliska, Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at Discovery Education, is leading this effort. The Digital Citizenship Initiative resources are accessible on digitalcitizenship.our website and Discovery Education Experience.
Norton will contribute free AI-focused classroom resources, launching in Q4. These materials will support safe student discovery of AI, a topic of growing importance. My Digital Life, a resource center by Norton and Discovery Education, has already reached nearly 415,000 students in just two years.
The initiative addresses pressing issues such as cyberbullying, online privacy, and digital footprints. Alarmingly, nearly one in four U.S. kids experience cyberbullying, and over a quarter turn to AI for emotional support. Meanwhile, two-thirds of students believe AI can help them learn faster, but fewer than half of teachers report AI use in their classrooms. Furthermore, research shows that 2 in 5 children in the U.S. use AI for companionship, raising concerns among parents.
With Norton's support, the Digital Citizenship Initiative will expand its reach, helping more students and educators discover the responsible use of technology. By providing free AI-focused resources, the collaboration aims to bridge the gap between student interest and teacher integration of AI in learning.
