Educational Institutions' Staff Overseen by the Home Ministry
In a bid to ensure child safety on roads around schools, Kazakhstan has launched a comprehensive special operation named "Attention - Children!" from August 31 to September 9.
Improving Road Safety Infrastructure
Under this operation, various measures have been taken to improve road safety infrastructure near educational institutions. Pedestrian traffic lights, speed bumps, road signs, information panels, fences, and designated parking areas have been installed to make the surroundings safer for children [1].
Enhanced Police Presence
District inspectors and criminal investigators have been assigned to every school and college to closely monitor safety and enforce traffic rules. From September 1 to 9, patrols will be positioned as close as possible to schools and colleges as part of the preventive campaign to reduce road traffic injuries involving children [1].
Educational Initiatives
Schools are tasked with organising lessons on the basics of safe behaviour for children, aimed at raising awareness and teaching safety practices. This educational initiative forms a crucial part of the campaign [1].
Video Surveillance and Monitoring
All educational organizations are currently equipped with video surveillance, with 81% integrated with Operations Control Centres for real-time monitoring and rapid response. This enhanced security and monitoring will help maintain a safe environment around schools [1].
Wide-Ranging Government Effort
This operation is part of a broader government effort led by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and supported by other agencies. The comprehensive approach includes both physical road safety improvements and active law enforcement coupled with educational outreach [1][2].
Additional Road Safety Improvements
Beyond school zones, additional road safety improvements like rumble strips and safer pedestrian crossings on main roads also contribute to the overall safety environment [3].
Report from the First Deputy Minister
The First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Bauyrzhan Alenov, reported on the safety measures for children during the new academic year [4]. Each school and college will have assigned local police officers, and detectives will also be assigned to educational institutions [1][2].
A total of 1,773 educational facilities have been checked for anti-terrorist protection this year, ensuring the safety of students and staff [5].
In summary, Kazakhstan’s strategy under the "Attention – Children!" operation emphasises infrastructure improvements, law enforcement deployment near schools, active patrols during the campaign period, and educational programs to ensure child safety on roads around educational facilities [1][2].
- Enhanced education and self-development programs are being implemented in schools as part of the "Attention - Children!" operation, with lessons on safe behavior and practices aimed at raising awareness and promoting safety [1].
- The blanket of politics extends beyond the scope of the "Attention - Children!" operation, as the broader government effort led by the Ministry of Internal Affairs is supported by other agencies, demonstrating a commitment to child safety in the realm of general news and beyond. [1][2]
