Enderun Hosts Climate-Resilient Urban Planning Roundtable
Enderun Colleges recently hosted a significant roundtable discussion on climate-resilient urban planning and sustainable design. The event, attended by students, faculty, and representatives from various sectors, focused on practical frameworks to adapt to climate change in Metro Manila.
The International Design Conference (IDC) keynote speaker, Eisuke Tachikawa, led a session titled 'Tropical Design for Resilient Cities'. He was joined by panelists Rhea Matute, Nikki Escalona-Tayag, Harvey Vasquez, Alfred Panugao, Emmanuel Umali, Dennis Allan Quan, and Erick Yambao. The National Design Policy was discussed as a strategic move towards embedding sustainability in design and planning initiatives. The event was attended by representatives from Taguig Local Government Unit (LGU), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), industry partners, and the College of Architecture and Design (CAD) community. Nikki Escalona-Tayag emphasized the responsibility of designers in creating pathways to a sustainable future, while Carla Leonor highlighted the importance of collaboration and proactive roles in designing for cities and communities.
The roundtable at Enderun Colleges provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss and plan for a sustainable future. With the participation of prominent figures like Eisuke Tachikawa and local representatives, the event underscored the importance of collaboration and purposeful design education in addressing climate change.
