Evangelicals in Europe Unaware of Bible's Role in Shaping EU Values

Evangelical Christians in Europe remain largely unaware of the Bible's significant influence on European society and values, and their views on the EU are primarily shaped by ignorance and indifference. This lack of knowledge is evident despite the upcoming 'Blueprints of hope' symposium in Utrecht, where religious leaders will discuss European integration as a moral framework.

The 'Blueprints of hope' project, set for May 7, aims to present European integration as a moral endeavour inspired by Christian churches. However, Dutch evangelicals have distanced themselves from the EU due to their emphasis on national independence and sovereignty.

Robert Schuman, a devout Christian, initiated the European project on Europe Day in 1950. Yet, evangelicals are often ignorant of this history and biblical teachings on politics and international relations. Some even view the EU as part of the problem, with a continent that has supposedly abandoned its Christian roots. The State of Europe Forum in Brussels seeks to shed light on these aspects.

Evangelicals' lack of awareness about the Bible's role in shaping Europe and their indifference towards the EU present challenges in fostering a more informed and engaged Christian community. Events like 'Blueprints of hope' and the State of Europe Forum aim to bridge this gap, encouraging evangelicals to understand and participate in the European project.
