Apple has recently announced a series of updates and new initiatives within the Apple Education Community, a professional learning hub for educators who use Apple technology.
Everyone Can Create Projects
The highlight of the updates is the new online series called Everyone Can Create Projects. This series includes a variety of projects designed to inspire creativity in any subject. Some of the new projects include:
- Animate with Stop Motion, which uses Photos and Keynote to tell stories.
- Design with Shapes, which employs Keynote to visualize concepts.
- Create Editing Effects, which utilizes iMovie.
- Write Your First Song, which leverages GarageBand.
- And a new project, Swift Playgrounds, which helps users learn machine learning basics with a rock, paper, scissors game and provides walkthroughs for arranging app layouts by building a journal app.
Apple Learning Coach
The Apple Learning Coach program continues to grow, with over 1,600 coaches across 49 states and Washington, D.C. This free professional learning program for educators across the US accepts applications through November 16, 2022. Participants receive a coaching portfolio, a cohort of peers, and the opportunity to apply for continuing education credits from Lamar University.
Apple Education Community Features
The Apple Education Community offers a platform for educators and technology administrators to discuss deployment and management of Apple devices. It also provides the Learning Center, a resource center filled with hundreds of free resources in 16 languages.
Moreover, forum collaboration features are now available in English to Community members in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, and the US. However, Apple does not disclose which individual schools participate in its forum publicly.
App Updates
Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, which are preinstalled with every new iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and updates are free on the App Store, have also received some updates. Users can now automatically remove the background of images, view recent activity in collaborative files, and get notifications. Additionally, users can remove or replace the background of live video objects in Keynote with the updated apps.
