Volunteers Bring Community Spirit to Hellgate Coffee Cart

Every Friday and Wednesday, a group of dedicated individuals can be found serving coffee and spreading positivity at the Hellgate Coffee Cart. Among them are Kelsey McCall, Libby Schneider, Sue Bell, Jennifer Savage, and Kristy Pilgrim.

McCall, a Hellgate High School alumna, was invited to help at the coffee cart last year by a friend. She enjoys being around students at the school and finds joy in seeing the smiles on sleepy faces in the morning as they get their caffeine fix.

Schneider, an alumnus and former coach at Hellgate, works Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30. Despite her fear of spiders and sharks, she finds solace in the community aspect of the coffee cart. In fact, she has a sophomore at Hellgate and is delighted to be able to interact with her daughter and her friends face to face after the pandemic. Schneider is also known for her love of dad jokes, which she often shares with the students and fellow volunteers.

Bell, another regular volunteer, works Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30. She enjoys the diversity of the students who come to the coffee cart and finds it rewarding to be a part of such a vibrant community.

Savage, whose daughters both attended Hellgate High School and are now in New York, works Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30. She appreciates the opportunity to give back to the community and is grateful for the chance to connect with the students and staff at the school.

Pilgrim, a parent of two Hellgate High School students, works Tuesdays from 7:30 to 9:30. Her favorite thing about the coffee cart is the sense of community it fosters, and she finds it rewarding to be a part of such a positive and welcoming environment.

These volunteers bring a unique blend of energy and enthusiasm to the Hellgate Coffee Cart, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all who visit. Whether you're a student, parent, or community member, you're sure to find a warm welcome and a great cup of coffee at the Hellgate Coffee Cart.
