Dr. Meryl Epstein is the latest addition to our academic team, bringing a wealth of experience in both traditional and online classrooms to her new role as Associate Director of Education.
Dr. Epstein, who earned a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and an MFA in Fine Arts (Photography) from Arizona State University, has a unique combination of skills and experience that allows her to leverage her passion for creativity and teaching.
Before joining us, Dr. Epstein served as the Dean of the Art Institute of Phoenix from 2006 to 2014, where her academic career led her to roles as the Graphic Design Academic Director and Dean of Academic Affairs.
In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Epstein has a strong background in design, having worked in publishing, advertising, and package design before moving into museum work. She has experience in designing museum graphics, exhibits, signage, and collateral materials, and has helped to open several museums in the Phoenix area, including the Arizona Historical Society, Arizona Science Center, and Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art.
Dr. Epstein's research on student success and retention is applied in her online education roles, and her communication skills are crucial in the online learning environment. She values work/life balance and mindfulness, and her teaching philosophy emphasizes active engagement and connection between students and instructors.
