Government of Maharashtra and the Art of Living's SSRDP Initiative Team Up to Reinvent 150 Publicly Funded Schools

The Government of Maharashtra and The Art of Living's Sri Sri Rural Development Program (SSRDP) have joined hands to transform 150 government-aided schools across 10 districts in Maharashtra. The collaboration aims to create aspirational spaces of learning and holistic development for students.

The initiative focuses on several key areas: enhancing digital infrastructure, upgrading physical facilities, and introducing holistic wellbeing and capacity-building interventions for students and educators.

Specific interventions include digital infrastructure improvements to provide students access to modern learning technologies, physical facility upgrades to improve the learning environment, holistic wellbeing programs aimed at supporting mental and emotional health, and capacity building to empower teachers and school staff for improved education delivery.

The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, stated a commitment to transforming education in Maharashtra and creating environments that nurture academic, emotional, digital, and moral intelligence in students.

The MoU was signed in the presence of senior government officials and Shri Prasana Prabhu, Chairman, Sri Sri Rural Development Programme Trust. The implementation will be phased over three years, although no detailed phased timeline or exact deadlines were disclosed.

SSRDP is dedicated to uplifting rural communities across India. The programs will be supported through CSR partnerships and philanthropic contributions mobilized by the Art of Living SSRDP. Contributions can be made through the website: ssrdp.artofliving.org/donate-ssrdp.

Each school will undergo a baseline assessment to design tailored intervention plans. The Art of Living SSRDP's mission includes making the schools models of inclusive and empowered education. The programs are inspired by the teachings of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
