The Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) has announced the recruitment for 255 Assistant District Attorney (ADA) vacancies in the Prosecution Department, Haryana. The three-tier selection process includes a Screening Test, Subject Knowledge Test, and Interview round.

Screening Test

The Screening Test is an objective-type examination with a duration of 2 hours. It consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying a maximum of 100 marks. Candidates need to obtain at least 25% marks to clear this stage. The test covers topics such as General Science, Current Events, History, Geography, Culture, and other relevant areas. There is negative marking in the Screening Test, with a deduction of one-fourth mark for every wrong answer. The Screening Test for the HPSC ADA recruitment is scheduled for November 2, 2025.

Subject Knowledge Test

The Subject Knowledge Test is a subjective-type paper with a duration of 3 hours and a maximum of 150 marks. Candidates who pass the Screening Test will be shortlisted for this stage. The test assesses the detailed knowledge of law-related subjects across Civil and Criminal Laws, with an emphasis on updated Indian statutes.

The Civil Law topics include the Code of Civil Procedure, Indian Contract Act, Indian Partnership Act, Sale of Goods Act, Hindu Law, Mohammadan Law, and Customary Law. The Criminal Law topics include Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (New Indian Penal Code), Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (Bhartiya Criminal Procedure Code), Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (Indian Evidence Act) 2023, and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (Indian Evidence Act).

The minimum qualifying marks for the Subject Knowledge Test are 35%. The score achieved in the Screening Test will not be considered for final selection. The Subject Knowledge Test is conducted in both Hindi and English.

Interview

The Interview round carries a weightage of 12.5% of the final selection marks. It evaluates the candidate's legal acumen, reasoning ability, communication skills, problem-solving capacity, and personality traits.

Aspirants preparing for the HPSC ADA exam are advised to analyze the syllabus, create a study plan, practice mock tests, and revise regularly. The HPSC ADA syllabus and exam pattern are available on the HPSC's official website. The application process for the HPSC ADA recruitment is open from August 13 to September 2, 2025.

This three-tier process ensures comprehensive evaluation, filtering candidates on general knowledge and reasoning, assessing deep legal expertise across civil and criminal laws with updated Indian statutes, and evaluating overall suitability for the ADA role. Candidates are encouraged to prepare diligently to maximize their chances of success in the HPSC ADA recruitment.
