In Halle (Saale), winners of the "Digital Bridge Builder" competition for Halle-Neustadt have been revealed
The city of Halle (Saale) recently concluded the "Digital Bridge Builders" ideas competition as part of its Smart City project, with a focus on promoting digital competencies and participation for the future smart educational quarter Halle-Neustadt - Smart HaNeu.
The competition, organised and supervised by science2public - Society for Science Communication e.V., attracted a total of 32 submissions, from which an expert and youth jury selected the most innovative project ideas. Aimed at breaking down digital barriers and building digital bridges in the district of Halle-Neustadt, the competition offered a total of 10,000 euros in prize money.
The winning projects were officially awarded and presented to the public on July 1, 2025, at the Passage 13 community center in Halle-Neustadt. The winning projects include "City of Dreams!", "Saver Silver Surfer", "Digital Start", and "Code4Future".
"City of Dreams!" is a project aimed at children aged 10 and above, teaching practical basics of urban planning, technology, and sustainability. "Saver Silver Surfer" is an open daily offer for Halle-Neustadt seniors to navigate the digital world more securely. "Digital Start" is a three-month course for Halle-Neustadt youth and young adults, answering questions about computer basics and Microsoft Office. "Code4Future" offers interactive workshops for secondary school students in Halle-Neustadt, introducing them to Python programming and responsible AI use.
The youth jury also selected a project targeted at young people in Halle-Neustadt, "Don't fool me!". This project offers a one-day media workshop that deals with fake news, disinformation, and the influence of artificial intelligence.
The pilot phase of the winning projects is set to begin in the third quarter of this year. Successful concepts from the winning projects may be integrated into the "Smart HaNeu" initiative of the Smart City Halle (Saale) project.
The aim of the competition is to enable people to handle digital devices and software more securely, creatively, and independently. The competition is a key part of this year's theme "City of Bridges". For detailed information on the competition winners, it might be necessary to consult local news sources or official announcements from Halle-Neustadt's Smart HaNeu initiative directly.
