The local district is deep in discussion with the school administration about possibly installing water dispensers within the school premises. As the district sponsor of the gymnasium, housing nearly 750 students, they're keen on making improvements to the cafeteria to boost its use.
District Remains Content with Existing Food Offerings
Despite the potential changes, the district still sees the existing food offerings as sufficient, citing a broad range of food options nearby. Notably, the "Leibgericht" canteen, a popular spot among students, is just a stone's throw away from the school. Students are requested to stick to specific dining hours to avoid disturbing the district office employees during their lunch break.
Previous reports indicated lower usage numbers, but school administration's Heike Scholz stated that close to 150 students or more make use of this option daily. Aside from installing water dispensers, the district aims to revamp the cafeteria to encourage more students to join.
Famila Market Welcomes Student Rush
The school cafeteria emerged as a topic of public interest due to the daily influx of students at the nearby Famila market. Despite the temporary crowd, the market management takes it in stride, stocking their bakery section with enough snacks and rolls for the young customers. During their break, the students tend to visit the market in groups. Famila department store manager, Norbert Schwarz, shared that they open numerous checkout counters to handle the rush and have no issues with the students' behavior, as there are no customer complaints.
