JKLU's Institute of Design Makes History With Prestigious Don Norman Design Award 2025
JK Lakshmipat University's Institute of Design has made history by becoming the only Indian design institute to win the prestigious international Don Norman Design Award (DNDA) 2025 for its B.Des and M.Des programs. The award recognizes the institute's innovative approach to design education and its commitment to humanity-centered design.
The DNDA, established by renowned design luminary Professor Don Norman, honors programs that excel in humanity-centered design education and nurture future leaders. JKLU's Institute of Design stood out for its innovative pedagogical approach, balance towards systems thinking, and strong community linkages.
Professor A Balasubramaniam, Director of the Institute of Design at JKLU, expressed that the award validates their systems thinking approach and pedagogy. The program prepares students for the real world through an empathic, participatory, and co-creative lens. This holistic approach has earned the institute recognition alongside nine other international institutions.
Professor Vijaysekhar Chellaboina, Vice Chancellor of JKLU, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of the Institute of Design's innovative approach. The head of the institute, Professor Deepak Kumar, led the team that received this significant accolade.
The DNDA 2025 Laureates, including JKLU's Institute of Design, will be honored at a ceremony during the DNDA Summit in Singapore from November 19-21, 2025. This award not only recognizes the institute's excellence but also puts India on the global map of design education, setting a new benchmark for innovative and humanity-centered design pedagogy.
