Kanchanaburi educator expropriates accolade earnings
Hear Ye, Hear Ye!
Meet Praiwan Yapan, a standout schoolteacher from Kanchanaburi, who's just bagged one of the coveted 14 Princess Maha Chakri Awards 2025. That's right, this dude ain't just any ordinary teacher - he's a game-changer in the world of education!
The Princess Maha Chakri Award Foundation Committee made the announcement on Monday, [April 21], and these educators will be showered with accolades on Oct 15. And let me tell ya, this ain't no small-time award - it recognizes badass teachers from ASEAN nations, plus Timor-Leste, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Mongolia.
So, what's Praiwan's claim to fame? He's the driving force behind educational opportunities in far-flung areas. This chap played a crucial role in establishing the Pilokki border patrol police school, and he ain't stopping there. He's fighting for educational rights for ethnic minority children and is all about bringing up schools struggling with teacher shortages.
Ever heard of "Khai Kham Khao Online"? It's practically Praiwan's brainchild. This badass project teaches kids how to make a buck and become entrepreneurs by selling community agricultural products online. The best part? A good chunk of the earnings goes towards funding those kids' education. Talk about killing two birds with one stone, huh?
Other winners include Plairat Samlee from Srisatchanalai Industrial community and education college, who's pioneering energy sustainability, and Thon Buaruang, a former teacher who's using his retirement years to help students achieve their dreams.
The foundation's also stepping up to support Kyaw Zin Aung, a previous recipient from Myanmar who's been hit hard by armed conflict and an earthquake. With the help of the Thai embassy in Yangon, they'll be providing much-needed assistance to this inspiring educator.
In an effort to boost community development, the foundation's also teaming up with the Equitable Education Fund. Through this partnership, they'll be working on teacher training and development, making sure more educators get the skills they need to inspire the next generation.
Oh, and just in case you're curious, Praiwan's recognition comes from his unwavering commitment to promoting education in remote regions and his tireless efforts to bring educational equity to ethnic minority children.
