Fifteen hundred former students and teachers congregated in the bustling heart of Moosburg for a spectacular 50th anniversary reunion at the local gymnasium, reminiscing and reveling like never before.

Moosburg Memories Galore

As you meander your way towards the Moosburg Karl-Ritter-von-Frisch-Gymnasium, the beat of live music and pungent aromas of food waft through the air, drawing a sea of people from all corners. As you approach the crowded, festive street, you may find yourself momentarily transported to a vibrant open-air fair. Despite the entrance checks, it's evident that this is no ordinary school festival: it's a huge summer party!

With sunny skies, food trucks, Aperol Spritz in hand, and live bands, the atmosphere is euphoric. Clusters of old friends stand together, laughing and sharing memories, their reunion a celebration of their shared history and camaraderie.

Legendary Educators and Forgotten Reports

Those who graced the party with their presence came to reminisce and reunite with their old schoolmates. An impressive turnout of 1500 people gathered, some accompanied by their entire families. Among them is Andrea Ertl, a Moosburger who hails from the school's early years, 1974/75. "We were still crammed into classrooms underneath the triple gym back then," she grins, recalling the humble beginnings.

As Ertl reminisces, she pauses briefly to share the names of some of her most beloved teachers: Massier, Ederer, and Puschek. The exhibition of annual reports, meticulously curated, caught her eye throughout the day. Among the displays were the school's graduation newspapers, though the uncensored versions were absent, she discloses, laughing. The original reports contained passages about a sports teacher and a religion teacher that the school deemed too harsh, prompting them to be omitted from the official archives. "But I still have the uncensored versions at home," she reveals, chuckling.

Exploring a Part of the Past

Within the school building, visitors could be found in every nook and cranny. The atmosphere was particularly energetic in the "QZi," the former "KoZi" or college student room, where a photo booth with whimsical props drew a constant crowd, capturing smiles and laughter. Next door, a slideshow detailing fifty years of school history looped on the wall, triggering bouts of laughter or sentimental gasps as old carnival parties, advanced courses, and art exhibitions flickered by.

Music teacher Tobias Rottmann stood at the forefront, guiding tour groups through the building every half hour. Each room brimmed with nostalgia, and visitors marveled at the changes while reliving memories. In one room, the air still carried the same distinct aroma as before, prompting laughter from the tour group.

Memories Remain Alive

Luise Mintrop and Daniela Palla wandered through the rooms, searching for familiar traces of their past. "The stage in the hall immediately brought back memories of the plays and dances we performed here," Mintrop recalls, her eyes shining. The 36-year-old moved from Freiburg to attend the party, where she reconnected with old friends and embraced the warmth of their reunion.

The Evening Rages On

As the evening draws to a close, Headmistress Claudia Theumer stands outside, her spirits soaring as she surveys the sizeable crowd that remains. "This festival has been a dream come true for our school family, and it's been better than we ever imagined," she exclaims, moments before a woman bursts into the crowd, filled with unbridled enthusiasm. "This is an event that should continue every five years!" Theumer smiles appreciatively but explains that such an undertaking would require immense effort.

As the headmistress contemplates the cleanup, the partygoers remain, still eager to chat and reminisce. Many make their way to the Hirschwirt, inspired by memories of the good old school days.
