Latvia's Autumn Series Promotes Sustainability with UN Goals

Latvia is hosting a series of events this autumn to promote sustainable development and responsible environmental management, aligning with the UN's 17 sustainable development goals. These events aim to foster international cooperation and sustainable solutions, marking the tenth year of simultaneous events across European countries.

Kicking off the series, Riga International High School's 12th graders will develop projects on UN Sustainable Development Goals on September 19. Meanwhile, an educational event on 'Clothing and textile waste' will take place in Valmiera on September 27, focusing on textile recycling and sustainable fashion.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of Latvia oversees the planning and monitoring of Latvia's sustainability development. They are joined by the State Chancellery, which coordinates the European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW) in Latvia.

On September 25, an online webinar 'Towards a sustainable office' will delve into eco-friendly office practices. A week later, on September 26, a webinar will explore 'How will the Green Course affect the working environment and employees' skills?'

In Rumbula on September 19, a seminar series on 'Circular economy and effective waste management' will take place. Looking ahead, an international conference on '25 years of Latvian development cooperation' is scheduled for October 3. Additionally, the Latvian Free Trade Unions Union will organize a think tank on 'Digitization as a driving force of economic growth' on October 7.

These events, ranging from educational workshops to high-level conferences, demonstrate Latvia's commitment to sustainable development and responsible environmental management. By fostering dialogue and sharing best practices, Latvia continues to contribute to the global effort towards a more sustainable future.
