In an effort to promote traffic safety and prevent accidents, the Recklinghausen Police will be participating in the "Day Without Traffic Deaths" on September 18, 2025. This Europe-wide event aims to raise awareness of the dangers of traffic and encourage a safer driving environment.

The "Day Without Traffic Deaths" is a continuation of a preventive concept in schools by the Recklinghausen Police Headquarters, known as the "Crash Course NRW". This initiative aims to emotionally describe the impact of traffic accidents on personal lives, with relatives of traffic accident victims speaking in schools in Recklinghausen as part of the programme in November of this year.

Police President Friederick Zurhausen stated that each traffic death serves as a sad reminder of the high price of participating in traffic. He emphasized that the slogan "Every accident is one too many" will be emphasized during the increased controls.

The increased controls will focus on speed, vehicle condition, seat belt use, mobile phone use, and essential documents such as driver's license and vehicle registration. The Recklinghausen Police Headquarters will enforce these controls on Thursday.

Last year, twelve people died in traffic accidents within the jurisdiction of the Recklinghausen Police Headquarters, making it crucial for the authorities to take action. The participation of the Recklinghausen Police in the event aims to emphasize the importance of traffic safety.

In addition to the "Day Without Traffic Deaths", the Recklinghausen Police will also participate in the "AnsprechBAR" event series, which focuses on dialogue with youth and will be held at several schools in the region.

The goal of these initiatives is to remind people of the potentially catastrophic consequences of traffic accidents and to promote a safer traffic environment. The "Day Without Traffic Deaths" is not just about avoiding accidents on a single day, but about fostering a culture of safety and responsibility on our roads every day.
