Park University is embarking on an exciting new project, funded by the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) through the Private MoExcels grant. The project, titled "Boosting State Economic Recovery through Adult Learner Pathways to Careers in Health Care", aims to create and enhance educational pathways for adult learners transitioning into health care careers.
The objective of this multi-year initiative, active since approximately 2022-2023, is to develop accelerated and flexible pathways tailored to adult learners, enabling them to gain relevant certifications, degrees, and skills required for in-demand health care jobs. The target audience includes working adults, displaced workers, and underserved populations looking to enter or advance in health care careers.
The focus areas of the project are building curriculum pathways aligned with high-demand health care occupations such as nursing, medical assisting, and health information technology. The funding for this project comes from the MDHEWD Private MoExcels grant, which finances workforce development initiatives aimed at connecting education with employment opportunities.
Since its inception, the project has been implementing course development, partnerships with health care employers, and student support services. Specific milestones include curriculum design, enrollment of cohorts of adult learners, and collaboration with local employers to facilitate work-based learning and job placement.
While detailed real-time progress reports or completion forecasts are not publicly available, for the most current updates, contacting Park University’s project leads or the MDHEWD could provide more precise information on the project timeline, outcomes to date, and next steps.
