Love missives penned by Kali Uchis in her latest album, titled 'Sincerely'.
Laying Bare: Kali Uchis Unveils Deep Personal Transformation on New Album 'Sincerely'
Kali Uchis, the Grammy-winning powerhouse, has traversed an intricate emotional landscape in the past year following the birth of her child and the loss of her mother. Her latest studio album, 'Sincerely', out now, reflects this tumultuous journey, and focuses on her son, family, and the most intimate aspects of her world today.
Previously, her English album, 2023's 'Red Moon in Venus', showcased a vibrant blend of sounds and rhythms. But 'Sincerely', signaled by singles like "Sunshine & Rain" and "ILYSMIH", is primarily driven by emotional ballads, with tracks like "Heaven Is a Home", "For: You", and "Daggers".
After releasing three albums in three years straight, Uchis has expressed her plans to rethink her future endeavors. In an interview with Angie Martinez on the IRL podcast, she sighed, "I'm in a place where I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to dedicate myself to after this, apart from my son. I'm fed up with the idea of just having to sell and promote something."
Despite her reservations, she reiterated her fondness for creating music. "I love making art. I love creating." She admitted that she dislikes the public aspects of being a musician, but finds her artistic pursuits to be a form of self-expression and emotional relief during trying times.
Asked about her ability to complete 'Sincerely' amidst new motherhood and mourning, Uchis declared that creating music is like breathing to her. "It's like second nature to me. It's who I am."
In light of her profound personal experiences, 'Sincerely' represents a striking testament to Uchis' resilience and capacity to transform pain into beauty. And yet, it also underscores her unwavering love for music, making it a significant turning point in her career.

"Whenever I go through whatever I go through, I feel like it's part of me to use my art and whatever I create to get through whatever it is that I'm going through, to make some kind of beauty, or whatever pain or stress, it's my relief."
