MAHE's 32nd Commencement Ceremony: Honoring Achievements, Dreams, and Excellence
Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence Deemed University, hosted its 32nd convocation on May 24, 2025, in Mangaluru. Over 1,300 students, including undergraduates, postgraduates, and PhD recipients, graduated, and 616 of them attended the ceremony in person.
The prestigious Dr. TMA Pai Gold Medal was conferred upon four outstanding students from Kasturba Medical College and Manipal College of Dental Sciences. Dr. Abhijat Sheth, the President of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, graced the occasion as the honorable chief guest.
In his keynote address, Dr. Sheth emphasized the importance of educated and ethical professionals in today's rapidly evolving world. He stressed that individuals with a combination of knowledge and strong ethical standards are crucial for driving meaningful progress. He also highlighted the significance of communication and research in medical education.
Dr. Sheth praised MAHE for fostering leaders who can navigate complexity with integrity and urged the graduates to carry forward the institution's legacy of excellence, innovation, and service. He also expressed gratitude for the faculty development programs and encouraged further collaboration with MAHE to advance medical education and research in India.
Speaking at the convocation, MAHE's Pro Chancellor, Dr. H. S. Ballal, noted that the institution does not just prepare students for careers but for shaping the future. He expressed pride at having nurtured the batch of young minds who are now prepared to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.
The vice chancellor of MAHE, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh, VSM (Retd.), commended MAHE's role in standing at the intersection of tradition and transformation. He emphasized the university's commitment to academic rigor, global relevance, and continuous evolution to meet society's future needs.
Dr. Dilip G. Naik, Pro Vice Chancellor of the Mangalore campus, and other esteemed members of the faculty were present at the event. The ceremony recognized the academic achievements of the graduates and celebrated the friendships and connections they built during their time at MAHE, who will forever be a part of the university's family.
Founded in 1953, MAHE is a multi-disciplinary higher education institution recognized for its academic excellence, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and significant contributions to research across various disciplines. It offers over 400 specializations through its constituent units at several campuses across India and Dubai. In 2020, the Ministry of Education awarded MAHE the prestigious Institution of Eminence status, and it is currently ranked 4th in the National Institutional Ranking Framework.
