Abcourt Mines Resumes Gold Production at Sleeping Giant Project

Abcourt Mines Inc., a Canadian exploration company, has resumed gold production at its Sleeping Giant Project in Eeyou Istchee, Quebec, after an 11-year gap since 2014. The company's mill, a key asset that historically processed over a million ounces of gold, is now back in operation.

The mill began processing material directly from the development operations at the Sleeping Giant project in 2025. This marked a significant operational milestone for the company, as it signified the restart of gold production at Sleeping Giant. Underground mining and ramp-up activities, including the blasting of the first underground stope in July 2025, preceded the full mill processing of newly mined ore from the underground workings in August 2025.

Historically, from 1987 to 2014, the mill processed 3.37 million tons of ore from the Sleeping Giant deposit at an average grade of 10.29 g/t gold, producing a total of 1,073,111 ounces of gold during that period. After 2014, the mill processed material from the Elder mine from 2016 to 2022, and in 2024, it completed processing a 5,000-ton bulk sample from the Pershing-Manitou deposit at about 32 tons per hour.

As part of its development activities, Abcourt plans to fill the mill circuit within the next few weeks to pour the first gold bar from Sleeping Giant since 2014. The company is also constructing infrastructure such as dormitories and tailings facilities to support increased underground mining rates at a targeted production scale of approximately 100,000 to 125,000 tonnes per year, as authorized until 2032.

Pascal Hamelin, President and CEO of Abcourt, expects the ramp-up and testing phase on the current material to be smooth and without major issues. Hamelin, Eng, is a qualified person under Regulation 43-101 and has verified and approved the technical information in this press release.
