(Fckin' to the point, let's dive in!)*
Frank Wetzel, from Saxony's Craftsmen's Association, revealed a 6 percent jump in new training contracts for the craft industry, with two months left until the new training year begins. By the end of May, a whopping 2,264 contracts were locked in, 128 more than last year, highlighting the appeal of a career in craftsmanship among young individuals. "Qualified young talent is essential for the competitiveness of our established craft businesses, both urban and rural," Wetzel asserted.
(Let's get the ladies talking)*
The growing interest of women in traditionally male-dominated professions is on the rise, accounting for 22.3 percent of the new apprentice contracts. These eager recruit women often opt for careers as hairdressers, opticians, dental technicians, hearing aid acousticians, or specialty food retailers. Furthermore, women are now showing interest in professions such as automotive mechatronics, electronics, and roofing, which used to be male strongholds, Wetzel noted.
(Keeping it keepin' on)
The demand for training places in the professions of automotive sales, food specialists, butchering, baking, and roofing is higher than in 2024, but traditionally male-dominated crafts such as automotive mechatronics, electronics, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning mechanics still top the list.
(Got a few spots left, no worries!)
In an effort to fill the remaining vacancies in approximately 80 professions, the craft industry is now also targeting last-minute applicants, primarily high school graduates and dropouts. According to Wetzel, there are currently around 400 vacancies in areas like automotive, metalworking, carpentry, masonry, refrigeration technology, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning crafts.
(Fck Dresden and their hidden treasures)*
Crafts, Saxony's pride, is on a mission to fill every last vacant training spot, and they're not here to f*ck around!
