NAOWA Graduates 167 Youths in ICT and Fashion Design Training

The Nigerian Army Officers' Wives Association (NAOWA) has celebrated a significant milestone in its youth empowerment initiatives. The association graduated 167 beneficiaries from Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Fashion Design training programs held at its Institute of Management and Technology (NIMTA) in Abuja. The event was commended by Mrs Oluyede, who praised the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, for his commitment to youth development within army barracks.

The 167 graduates, all children of Master Warrant Officers and below, completed a 12-week practical-oriented fashion design and tailoring program. The course covered a range of skills, including sewing, tie and dye, batik, and screen printing. Additionally, 135 trainees underwent six weeks of intensive ICT training, covering IT essentials, python programming, cyber security, web design, and more. Notably, 15 ICT trainees qualified for a four-week internship following their graduation.

The training was conducted under the NAOWA Youth Empowerment Project, aligning with national goals of promoting employment, self-reliance, and innovation in a rapidly changing economy. NAOWA President, Mrs Mernan Oluyede, described the initiative as a strategic investment in the future of Nigerian youths. The graduates were quoted as leaving with 'knowledge, skills, and confidence', echoing Nelson Mandela's words on education.

The graduation of 167 beneficiaries marks a significant achievement for NAOWA's youth empowerment efforts. The association's commitment to empowering youths within barracks communities and the nation at large is expected to yield positive results, as the graduates embark on their new journeys equipped with valuable skills and confidence.
