Nazarbayev University Spotlights Artificial Intelligence Advancements and Educational Entrepreneurship at Bett Show 2025

Nazarbayev University's AI Solutions Shine at Bett Show

At this year's British Educational Training and Technology Show (Bett Show), Nazarbayev University showcased its cutting-edge AI solutions, including the ISSAI KAZ-LLM and the Soyle App. These innovative technologies are designed to bridge linguistic gaps and promote digital transformation in Kazakhstan.

The ISSAI KAZ-LLM, a large language model, is a significant breakthrough in addressing the challenges of low-resource languages. Trained on a neural network supporting Kazakh, Russian, English, and Turkish, the model is poised to serve as the foundation for a Kazakh version of GPT, expanding its reach into various domains.

The Soyle App, built on Kazakhstan's speech model, offers features such as speech recognition, voice synthesis, and instant translation into Kazakh, Russian, English, and Turkish. Its translation quality, as measured by BLEU scores, outperforms tools like Google Translate, Yandex Translate, and GPT-4o.

Artisan Education, a platform for self-study of robotics and programming, was also presented at the exhibition. Artisan Education begins with foundational lessons in programming and electronics, culminating in students assembling their robotic models. The platform, founded in 2023, has a team of 13 members, eight of whom are NU students, and participates in NURIS incubation and acceleration programs.

Zhanat Makhataeva, senior data analyst at NU's Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI), presented two of NU's standout contributions at the show. In addition to the ISSAI KAZ-LLM and the Soyle App, Artisan Education was highlighted for its rapid prototyping board based on the Raspberry Pi Pico W microcontroller for its IoT and AI projects.

The showcasing of these AI solutions at Bett, a leading global education technology event, signifies their importance and Nazarbayev University's leadership in AI applications for linguistic and educational purposes. This participation highlights the university's commitment to deploying AI in culturally relevant ways and contributing to global discussions on AI in education and language technology.

The Bett Show, which gathered thousands of educators and innovators, featured over 600 innovative exhibits, thought-provoking discussions, and workshops led by EdTech experts. This event serves as a platform for showcasing and discussing the latest advancements in educational technology and AI, making it an ideal venue for Nazarbayev University to demonstrate its AI solutions on an international platform.

Technology played a significant role in Nazarbayev University's showcase at the Bett Show, as they displayed the ISSAI KAZ-LLM, a large language model designed to address challenges of low-resource languages, and the Soyle App, which boasts superior translation quality compared to other tools. The university also introduced Artisan Education, an online platform for self-study of robotics and programming, as part of their commitment to lifelong learning and education-and-self-development. Artificial-intelligence, incorporated in these innovative technologies, underlines Nazarbayev University's leadership in AI applications for linguistic and educational purposes.
