In a historic appointment, Errollyn Wallen CBE has been named as the new Master of the King's Music. The announcement was made by His Majesty King Charles III on the 24th of August 2024, at 22:01.

The Master of the King's Music is a prestigious musical position in the United Kingdom, dating back centuries. Previous holders of this title include Sir William Walton and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. Errollyn Wallen, a Belize-born British musician, is the first to hold this title in King Charles' reign.

Wallen, who was made a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 2021, succeeded Dame Judith Weir, who was appointed to the role in 2014 by Queen Elizabeth II. The investiture ceremony for Wallen took place at St James's Palace.
