Norton Leads Digital Citizenship Initiative for AI Safety in Schools
Norton, a cybersecurity company, has joined forces with Verizon, Discovery Education, and Fortinet to launch the Digital Citizenship Initiative. This collaboration aims to provide free, AI-focused classroom resources to help students discover the digital world safely and responsibly.
The Initiative, which also includes support from AT&T and Cisco, offers ready-to-use materials and digital lessons across various disciplines. These resources will help educators teach students about online privacy, digital footprints, and cyberbullying, which Norton's Cyber Safety Insights Report found affects nearly 1 in 4 U.S. kids.
Norton's involvement in the Initiative builds on its existing partnership with Discovery Education, creators of My Digital Life. This resource center has already reached nearly 415,000 students in just two years. The new resources, set to launch in Q4, will focus on teaching safe and responsible AI use, a concern for many parents given that 2 in 5 children in the U.S. use AI for companionship.
The Digital Citizenship Initiative, backed by Norton, Verizon, Discovery Education, Fortinet, AT&T, and Cisco, is committed to equipping students with the digital skills they need to thrive in today's AI-driven world. Through free classroom resources, the Initiative aims to empower students to make informed decisions online and use technology responsibly.
