In the heart of Hanau, a significant milestone was marked as 24 new staff members joined the municipal daycare operation (EB Kita) in the first half of 2025. This expansion is part of the city's continuous efforts to increase its care capacities, catering to the needs of several thousand children daily, with a rising trend.

The event, held at the former school in Großauheim, Hanau, was a momentous occasion, introducing the new colleagues to the structures of the municipal operation and providing them with an opportunity to exchange ideas in smaller groups.

Astrid Weiermann, the director of the municipal operation, welcomed the new staff members, emphasizing their responsibility towards the youngest residents of Hanau and their families. Mayor Dr. Maximilian Bieri, in an engaging get-to-know-you round, inspired by his own experience as a vacation camp counselor, started the event.

The new staff members include 15 pedagogical specialists, 4 pedagogical assistants, 2 inclusion specialists, 1 cleaning staff, and 2 administrative staff. The expansion program, initiated since the end of 2022, has seen the creation of around 628 new care places. This includes the new building of the Kita Pioneer at Campo Pond, restructuring in existing daycare centers, the reactivation of inactive groups, and other measures.

The municipal daycare operation in Hanau, founded in 2005, currently consists of 30 municipal daycare centers, around 700 employees, 90 daycare providers, and 28 facilities in free sponsorship. The operation's growth is crucial for the city, as Mayor Dr. Maximilian Bieri emphasized, stating the work in the daycare centers as being of great importance to the entire city society.

Important contact persons were also introduced during the event, including the equal opportunities officer, the works council, the officer for severely disabled persons, and the youth and training officer.
