Pupils in Magadan are taught to convert waste into valuable assets.
On Environmentalist Day, June 5, the Magadan region was buzzing with cleanup events, exhibitions, workshops, and educational activities for kids, one of them happening at School No. 14. The highlights of the day included the "Knowledge. Lectures" project, where the young minds absorbed valuable lessons on the "Ecological Well-being" national project, forest, water, and air protection, and participated in an environmental game. The regional government news site confirmed the happenings.
Governor Sergei Nosov of the Magadan region underlined the importance of instilling an appreciation for nature from a young age, stating, "Our unique nature deserves all the respect we can give, starting from childhood."
Dar'ya Galutskaya, a culture and ecology aficionado, captivated the students as she shed light on Russia's natural resources, their global significance, and everyone's role in maintaining the ecological balance. In her words, "We need people who are not only culturally enlightened but also aware of our shared responsibility to protect our home, planet Earth."
Dar'ya's lecture emphasized the "Ecological Well-being" national project and federal initiatives like "Clean Air," "Forest Conservation," and "Water of Russia."
Following the lecture, the children battled it out for the crown of "Most Eco-Friendly," dove into converting waste into valuable resources, and discovered how viable green entrepreneurship could be in the environmental game "Factory."
"Knowledge. Lectures" is an educational project striving to bring a plethora of topics, from microbiology and physics to soft skills, to every corner of Russia. The boat of innovation is steered by Society "Knowledge," which empowers young people to engage with experts and discuss pressing matters during the lectures.
