Population Protection Day 2025: Empowering Young People and Innovations in Disaster Response
On July 12, 2025, Rostock will play host to the third nationwide Population Protection Day. Organized by the Federal Agency for Population Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK), the event will take place on the Hohe Düne peninsula and will focus on water and current innovations in population protection.
The theme of the day emphasizes youth empowerment, reproductive rights, gender equality, and access to healthcare and education for young people globally. The BBK, a federal supreme authority under the purview of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community, is headquartered in Bonn-Lengsdorf and employs around 700 staff across its five locations.
Ralph Tiesler, President of the BBK since June 15, 2022, and Dr. René Funk, Vice President since October 16, 2023, will be present at the event. The state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Federal Ministry of the Interior, and the Federal Agency for Population Protection and Disaster Assistance are hosting the event.
The day's activities will feature lively dialogues and diverse actors from civil and disaster protection. The event's website, www.population-protection-day.de, provides more information. Admission to the event is free.
In addition to the focus on self-protection in heat, drought, and flooding, the event will also showcase innovations in the NINA warning app, which will undergo a test warning via the app during the event in Rostock.
The BBK advises and supports other federal and state authorities in fulfilling their tasks. Media representatives can contact the BBK press office for support. Contact details can be found on the BBK website at www.bbk.bund.de/press.
World Population Day is observed internationally on July 11, 2025. Although the observance itself is global, Bhutan notably marked the day with events highlighting local demographic changes and reproductive agency. This year's focus on empowering young people to create the families they want in a fair and hopeful world is a global effort to raise awareness about population challenges and the importance of informed reproductive choices for sustainable development.
The Population Protection Day 2025 will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 10 am to 5 pm. The city of Rostock invites everyone to attend and learn more about population protection and the role of young people in creating a sustainable future.
- Amidst the focus on youth empowerment and self-development during Population Protection Day 2025, discussions on environmental science, climate change, and innovations in disaster response are crucial—particularly in the context of disaster-prone scenarios like heat, drought, and flooding.
- In the realm of education and self-development, the importance of understanding environmental science and climate change during Population Protection Day 2025 cannot be overstated, especially since these topics intersect with disaster response and creating a sustainable future for younger generations.
