Rodenbach Kindergarten Receives "Movement Kindergarten" Award
The Rodenbach kindergarten, "Haus Kunterbunt," has been officially awarded as a "Movement Kindergarten" by the association "Movement Kindergarten Rhineland-Palatinate" (Bewegungskita-RLP) and the Ministry of Education. This recognition is presented by the association consortium of seven organizations promoting holistic development, health, and education through movement and play in Rhineland-Palatinate kindergartens.
The daily routine at the kindergarten provides ample free movement and playtime for the children. This focus on movement is a result of the pedagogical staff's specialized knowledge in development promotion through movement, acquired through further training.
The award ceremony was attended by Bernhard Fuchs, director of the municipal youth welfare office, Sammy Labidi, head of kindergartens and daycare, and Neuwied's mayor Peter Jung, who expressed his delight with the recognition given to the Rodenbach kindergarten. Sissi Westrich from the Mainz Ministry of Education presented the award.
The indoor and outdoor areas of the Rodenbach kindergarten offer ample opportunities for free movement and play. Additionally, daily activity offers are made for the children. Mayor Jung was particularly impressed by the creativity with which the existing spaces at the kindergarten have been transformed into places of movement.
The "Movement Kindergarten Rhineland-Palatinate" award generally recognizes kindergartens that integrate structured physical activity programs, movement-friendly environments, or pedagogical concepts encouraging children's physical health. Typically, kindergartens receive such awards through a formal application or nomination process, demonstrating compliance with certain criteria like implementing daily movement activities, ensuring trained staff in physical education basics, creating a movement-friendly environment, and documenting the impact on children's development.
