"Rosa Hutor" boosts school search traffic in Sochi's education sector
In a commendable initiative, students from Sochi Gymnasium No.44 have developed an interactive map of military memorials in the Mountain Black Sea region. The map, available on the obeliski-sochi.rf website, is a result of the students' passion for preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War events.
The interactive map features 45 objects, each with detailed descriptions, histories of creation, and accessibility information. The map covers a hiking route of 68 kilometers over seven days, passing through various locations such as Sochi, Rosa Khutor, Psylkh, Aishkho, the Lesser Balkaria, Umpyr, the Greater Balkaria, Tretya Rotka, Chernorechye, and the village of Psebay.
The students will embark on their first hiking trip on July 20, with 14 participants aged 13-14 and their leaders. The main goal of the project is to restore, strengthen, and popularize the memory of the Great Patriotic War events. During the hike, the students will lay flowers at the sites to honour the sacrifice of Soviet soldiers in the Battle for the Caucasus and conduct cleanup activities.
Upon returning from the hike, the students will gather information about the battles and participants related to the places they've seen, to enrich the data on the obelisksochi.rf website. The students will also plan and carry out necessary repairs to the memorials during their next mountain trip.
The resort "Rosa Khutor" has provided Sochi Gymnasium No.44 with camping equipment for the hiking trips, including tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, mats, windscreen shields, pots, and gas burners for a group of 15. The resort's sustainable development program includes preserving historical heritage as one of its key aspects, and it expressed hope that this project will inspire other schools to join in and revive the search movement that was once popular in Sochi.
Dmitry Kolosov, Director of Sustainable Development at the "Rosa Khutor" resort, stated, "This project emphasizes the importance of patriotic education in the educational process." The project was presented at the "Green Tourism in Sochi" competition and won a special prize from the resort.
While there is no direct information available about an interactive map of military memorials specifically in the mountain Black Sea region, similar maps exist in other military or historic contexts. For instance, there is an interactive map visualizing Free French Africa and World War II sites, and detailed interactive itineraries and maps for regions like Georgia (the country), including historical and military-related sites.
If you are looking for a similar interactive map dedicated to military memorials in the mountain Black Sea region, it might be part of local governmental, historical, or veterans’ organizations' initiatives in the Black Sea bordering countries like Georgia, Russia, or Ukraine. Additional local sources or official regional heritage websites might hold this information. If needed, guidance on possible places or organizations to contact for more details can be provided.
- During their personal growth journey, the students from Sochi Gymnasium No.44 plan to expand their learning about military history beyond the Great Patriotic War events by exploring education-and-self-development opportunities related to sports and hiking.
- In addition to the interactive map on obeliski-sochi.rf, the students aim to foster personal growth by engaging in sports activities, such as hiking, to better understand the history of the military memorials in the region, thereby contributing to the overall preservation of the area's heritage.
