Russia-Africa Youth Committee Launches with First Online Summit
The Russia-Africa Youth Committee at the Diplomatic Academy has launched with a notable event, the first Online Summit for International Relations students in May 2025. This initiative aims to foster connections between emerging talent and seasoned practitioners, with senior Russian diplomats actively participating as panellists and mentors.
The Committee, focusing on three pillars - academic diplomacy, youth diplomacy, cultural bridge-building, and strategic networking - seeks to create high-level academic platforms. It identifies shared commonalities between Russia and Africa, such as the quest for multipolarity and post-colonial identity, to drive its agenda.
The Committee considers adaptable elements of Russia's youth policy for replication in Africa. These include patriotic education, structured youth councils, affordability of education, and cultural activities. It proposes to host a distinctive gathering, 'From Dialogue to Action: Youth Co-Creating the Russia-Africa Partnership', to further this goal.
The Committee also plans frequent Youth Exchange Programmes, both virtual and physical, to offer African youth access to Russian diplomatic perspectives and networks. It connects students with practitioners to develop policies and solutions, fostering a new generation of diplomats.
The Russia-Africa Youth Committee at the Diplomatic Academy is committed to supporting academic diplomacy and youth diplomacy. With its first summit a success, it looks forward to future events, including the innovative 'From Dialogue to Action' gathering. The budget for its activities is not publicly detailed, but interested parties can contact the Diplomatic Academy for more information.
