New Dean at Gateway Community and Technical College to Advance Academic Excellence

Beth Settlemoir has been named the Dean of Arts and Sciences at Gateway Community and Technical College, effective July 2025. Settlemoir served as interim dean for the past year and will now oversee full-time faculty, lead program growth, and ensure course offerings align with the evolving needs of students and the Northern Kentucky workforce.

During her interim tenure, Settlemoir was instrumental in expanding academic pathways that allow students to earn credentials easily transferable to four-year institutions, including Northern Kentucky University, Thomas More University, University of Cincinnati, Mount St. Joseph University, and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Under her leadership, enrollment in the Division of Arts and Sciences grew by 7%, from 951 students in 2023-24 to 1,016 in 2024-25, outpacing system-wide growth. This division provides more than half of all credit hours generated at Gateway.

Settlemoir's academic background includes a degree from Ohio University and a Master of Education in school psychology from the University of Cincinnati. Her key contributions include developing collaborative academic pathways for degree transfer, increasing enrollment and student success outcomes, leading curriculum development and assessment initiatives, and supporting faculty and fostering innovation to meet evolving educational and workforce needs in Northern Kentucky.

In her new role, Settlemoir will guide program growth and innovation at Gateway to ensure course offerings align with the evolving needs of students and the Northern Kentucky workforce. While no specific future plans beyond these responsibilities were detailed in the available sources, her focus on expanding academic pathways and program innovation suggests ongoing efforts to enhance Gateway’s academic excellence and regional impact.
